Border Speaking
documentary film along the former Schengen-borders

This project is a travelling event planned along the former Schengen-border during the summer of 2009.

In cooporation with local partners (associations and municipalities), the  film «La frontière intérieure» will be transported and shown in 40 different places on the border from the Baltic to the Adriatic sea.

This documentary film is based on the portraits of 7 border inhabitants from seven different countries who tell us about their life and particular destiny regarding the development of the border.

They are sharing their memories, oscillating between their desire to forget and their need to remember the complex history, 20 years after the fall of the iron curtain.

The 3 main objectives are:
- sharing memories of border inhabitants
- bringing inhabitants from both sides together for a cultural event, inviting people to discussions
- encouraging the activities of local cultural organisations and setting up a network of those institutions along the border by working together on a common project
